UP Police Age Limit Relaxation 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major relief for candidates applying for Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent positions in the state police. In a significant move, the UP Home Department has granted a three-year age relaxation for direct recruitment to 4,543 vacant posts from the selection years 2020-21 to 2024-25. However, this exemption is a one-time measure.

Key Highlights of the Decision:

✅ 3-year age limit relaxation for Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) & equivalent posts.
✅ Applies to recruitment cycles from 2020-21 to 2024-25.
✅ One-time exemption under UP Public Service (Age Relaxation) Rules, 1992.
✅ Expected to benefit thousands of candidates affected by COVID-19 delays.

Why Was This Decision Taken?

The decision comes after Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, urging relaxation due to pandemic-related disruptions. Many aspirants had crossed the age limit after prolonged delays in recruitment.

Previous Similar Exemptions

In December 2023, the UP government had also granted a three-year age relaxation for 60,244 Constable (Civil Police) vacancies. Due to high demand, the recruitment board received 48 lakh applications against an expected 25 lakh, showing massive youth interest.

What’s Next?

The official Sub-Inspector recruitment notification is expected soon, followed by the application process. This move is set to provide relief to long-waiting candidates and likely increase application numbers significantly.
